Don’t die before you’re dead
“Don’t Die Before You’re Dead” . . . I heard this quote from a video I watched some time ago and it struck me as rather profound. How many of us succumb to the mindless tedium of everyday life? We lose our light and vibrancy to the tune of the same drivel we see time and time again. It seems no matter where you go, the song remains the same. When I was in Europe visiting my eldest son, I would be on the train and see these people headed to and from work with a look of absolute defeat and surrender on their faces. The walking dead is a phrase that most commonly is used to describe a zombie but in our case shall be used to describe a person who has succumbed to their tedium.
You may have previously read my blogs on “Cashing in the Fun Chips” and “Being Two Again.” It’s important to consider that being able to enjoy yourself now and then is crucial in keeping yourself from descending into a premature grave. Life is meant to be just that, life, don’t let yourself drain so fully that you appear to be one of the walking dead. Children have this wonderful curiosity and innocence to them that fades as they grow steadily more jaded and aware of life’s tumultuous waves. Holding on to that curiosity and willingness to experience things to their fullest extent is what helps us build on who we are as individuals. The bonds we form with each other and how we spend our time determines how long we’re able to keep living. There is nothing more important than keeping that fire burning so we don’t end up husks, just stuck in our routines.
