Work Ethic- Part II

What sets apart you from the people who want what you have, is your ability to work hard and work smart. There isn’t a single self-made man out there who hasn’t pulled a series of all-nighters and made countless sacrifices while others slacked off so he could make it to where he is today. Everyone likes hearing these success stories of famous and powerful people, Elon Musk for example, but he didn’t happen overnight. Like countless others, he worked hard and he kept at what he was passionate about. More often than not, success comes after the trials and tribulations that put countless others into the ground. The first five years of a business are the hardest, by then, most business have failed to launch. Make it past those five years and then you’ve got something going. That’s the stuff that no one likes to talk about. Few people get lucky; to achieve any real degree of success requires hard work and sacrifice.

It’s really about putting in the time and the effort. No amount of twiddling of thumbs can account for the hours spent after closing to get ahead. Everyone likes to sell their success story, but few enough are willing to buy it with the effort and sacrifice required. With the shelves so full of instant oatmeal, it becomes that much harder to appreciate the craft of an actual meal, with the preparation, time and effort necessary to succeed. Next time you feel a little bit lazy, next time you feel a little too worn out, remember that success isn’t something that happens to you, it’s something you make happen for yourself.
