You mean a lot to me
With the news being a constant stream of tragedy and the passing of a local business leader, I realize it’s imperative that we tell the people we spend time with that we love them. I heard from many of his friends, I didn’t know him personally, that he was an incredible individual. I asked myself, did he know this? I’m sure he had some idea, he certainly made the effort. Your phone rarely rings because people want to tell you things are alright. Pick up the phone and tell someone things have gone right, visit with someone when you’re only there to drop off papers of packages, make the efforts to connect with the people you frequently run into. When you put forth the effort to touch the lives of others, it leaves a positive impression. You’ve heard the old adage that it’s lonely at the top, and that proves especially true for business leaders today.
Life no matter how you live it is all about connections, it’s how we enrich ourselves and add meaning to the things that we do. Surround yourself with people who not only build you up, but respect the efforts you make to touch the lives of those around you and attempt to do so in turn. Learning to appreciate the efforts others go to for you and those around them is one of the biggest kindnesses you can do do for anyone. Being grateful, being understanding, and learning how to listen goes so far in a time where anything like genuine respect is the most valuable currency. Your expressions and endearments speak loud in a time where we are buffeted by the constant noise of bad news and suffering.
