It’s okay to be a man

Lately it seems of all the crimes you could be guilty of, the worst offense is being a man. It’s become so convenient to blame poor circumstances on someone being a man--as though the gender in its entirety is guilty of every transgression since the dawn of time. Suffice it to say, to be a man is almost to endure a shame so great that it eclipses any feeling of achievement or accomplishment. The merit of the self is lost in a sea of collected ire towards a faceless patriarchy. With the blame allotted, there’s no need to take personal responsibility when you can blame the nearest man for your latest misfortune.

Turn on the TV for a hot second and watch any commercial or sitcom. I can promise you that nearly every commercial will sport some idiotic man making a blunder waiting for a woman to come and clean up his mess or make it right. Watch any sitcom and you’ll see a man who’s easily distracted by his desire for women and completely out of touch with masculinity. Masculinity, of course, being defined as the traits a man might have, something that would define a male, is almost a naughty word nowadays. Whether or not its accompanied by the word “toxic” is entirely up to the source. Current political narratives would have you believe that everything that’s wrong with the world stems from this idea that masculinity is the driving force behind the errors and faults of societies around the world.

Anyone with half a brain could tell you that’s a load of nonsense. Inherently, nature demands that there be a man and a woman to raise a family. In doing so, the family necessitates that the man be exactly as he needs to be to not only provide and care for the family, but pass on the traits necessary for survival to his offspring.
