Time flies

As you get older, you start being able to look back through time. Back in Texas, I had the chance to pass by our old house and places we remember very well. It’s amazing how much water has gone under the bridge. As I reflect on this, I realize that back then, a day seemed like a month. Now? A month seems like a day. We are all prone to regrets. “What-ifs” that accumulate over the passing of times. If I had stayed, what had my life had been like? I realize that I never would have been able to have develop the life and business that I have. As proud as I am of that, it’s inevitable that one day I would wake up and be an old man. Sure enough, it hit me. We were watching a video and I said to the family, “who is that chunky bald fella running down the beach?” The response was something to the tune of, “well, that’s you pop.” Haha. The spyglass of memory is remarkably kind and remarkably cruel. It offers great gifts at the cost of pangs from the heart.

Perspective, as the result of experience, is something that everyone develops. As you live your life, make sure that when you look back, you enjoy what you see. Mistakes are something that everyone makes, no one person is exempt from being human. That doesn’t excuse you from not making the best use of your time. When you look back, you should see a testament to your hard work and best efforts--efforts made in work, relationships, and personal interests. When time starts to fly, don’t fly with it, take your time with your family and enjoy each day as it comes.
