Make the decision already

Hesitation is the most crippling human affliction, it prevents us from taking the chances we need to seize to move forward. Especially in business, people are harmed by their inability to make a decision. For better or worse, the choices you make are more crucial to your business than staying still. As time goes by, the choices you make will become much more discerning--practice makes perfect. Knowing when to execute based on the information you have will do more for you than waiting around for the unknown. If it’s a matter of fear, then pushing yourself to face the small decisions gets you ready for the tougher ones. Losing yourself in your insecurities and getting comfortable in your indecision will harm your growth and stunt your ability to develop professionally.

There’s some comfort in the familiar, and perhaps that’s why we choose to remain in our comfort zones. However, if we can’t leave our comfort zones and make decisions, we will stall out in the wake of adversity. If we, as business leaders, struggle to confront challenges and obstacles then the fear of making decisions will stifle us. I’ve said it before and you’ve heard it before--we are our own worst enemies. Learning to overcome our own deficits starts with challenging ourselves in a small way. By getting accustomed to making choices under pressure and with limited information, we expand our repertoire and learn to be flexible. From our failures, we learn how to be graceful and recover from our falls. By making decisions and adapting to the consequences, we begin to grow flexible and grow in our entrepreneur maturity.
