What you do today matters

If today is the last day on Earth, what would you do? Apply this train of thought to your day-to-day activities and see what happens. As I’ve drilled into your head by now, you are the only you that will ever exist. There may be people with your same name, there may be people who could be your twin, but your capabilities, interests, and choices will always set you apart from anyone and everyone else. That makes you unique. Knowing that, does it change how you feel to realize that even though we can’t see that far into the future? How we act around others and what we say and do matters so much more than we realize. When we apply the idea that today could be the last day on Earth, what would we strive to accomplish? What kinds of impressions would we try to leave?

In a sea of questions, we can take comfort in the fact that we aren’t alone. We have invested in the lives and relationships that help offer definition to what we call life. Each bond we have is strengthened by an emotional bank account we keep with any person we have a connection to. Hopefully by now you’ve gathered people and created a flock of individuals who are determined to meet their fullest potential and push you to reach yours. Whether or not you’re conscious of it, time is always slipping through your fingers. It takes a sober mind to appreciate that one day that clock stops, and what’ll remain of you (on Earth) will be a legacy left with those you loved and cherished. Make each word kind, make every shot count, and let your memory be a testament to clean shoes and hard work.
