Tired of hearing it
All of life hinges on a delicate balance. It’s this delicate balance that keeps everything in order. The problem with the delicate balance is how afraid we become when that balance is threatened. Then we get to the “work-life” balance conundrum. I’ll be frank with you, I’m sick and tired of hearing about it. People obsess over this model idea of sitting on the beach, cashing in on millions with your phone while your company pulls in millions a year. They see these dreamboat stories on Snapchat or Instagram and it’s suddenly the American Dream of this century. It’s also a great big lie. There’s a healthy underestimation for the amount of work and effort and time that go into managing and building a business. The balance is thrown out of the window in favor of making ends meet so you have some semblance of a life to live. You stop caring about the hours you can save and start putting every last waking hour into your business just to turn a profit. It doesn’t help when the delicate balance of the world can throw any number of obstacles or challenges at you..
The bottom line is simple: you have to work your butt off. There is no easy path, no simple step program to seeing success as an entrepreneur. Anything can happen and your empire will fall. There’s nothing in this world that doesn’t take work, and the sooner this lesson is learned the easier it will be for you to get off your couch and put some hours in doing what needs doing. What makes the difference between you and the shmucks still sitting on the couch, living vicariously through social media is that you understand there are sacrifices to be made. You know that when you go that extra mile, push the extra carts, and shine your shoes even a little bit brighter, you stand out and like the cream you will rise to the top. Nothing makes a better impression of a man whose identity can be found in the quality of his craft and labor. Your work should speak for itself. Above all, you know immutably that there are no shortcuts, and that to grow stagnant is to die. Life is all about hard work, and good things don’t come to those who labor on their couch.
